“A lot happens in one day, both negative and positive. If we do not take the time to appreciate both, perhaps we will miss something that will help us grow.”
I am grateful for all the negative I have went through because it has brought me to such amazing positive place in my life and recovery.
The negative and the positive

instead of seeing life as a struggle to survive, I realize that while awakening may be sudden and joyful, true growth is often arduous and requires patience and maybe making the same mistakes over and over.
My problem is that I’m such a negative person, I never see positives in me, even when they are pointed out. This stops me moving forward with my recovery.
Its ok Karen just pray and find your peace !!!!!✌️
The hardest growth to see is growth in ourselves. It’s the same reson we have help with inventories.
Karen you are on here looking for help and sharing and that’s very positive!! Take it easy….everything is happening just like it is supposed to happen..
Right on !!!!!!!
Great Post Kayce, negative times, times of hardship have always brought about growth with time. My perspective always changes down the road.
I have been in a great season of growth. It started out negative but I have examined myself fully. I have drew closer to GOD. I know now I am an alcoholic. I know now I can live with out drink . I have been pushed to my extreme limits and was able to remain sober and learn more of what it takes to not drink today. NOW THAT Is POSITIVE !!!!
Awesome Shane !!!!!
How’s life Shane ?!!!!!!!
Thanks to you all for your support. It really helps.
Yes it does !!!!!
Hi everyone. I’m new to this site but very impressed by it thus far. Anyway, my name is Melissa and I’m an alcoholic. I have 9 days sober today and praying for many more. This topic reminds me that my negative way of thinking needs to be reframed. I need to turn my thoughts completely around but it’s so hard to do! I’m willing just not sure how to make this happen. I attend meetings everyday, (sometimes two), I pray all the time, and I contact my sober friends at least twice a day. Not to mention I signed myself into an outpatient program. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and God bless.
Welcome Melissa! One day at a time.
Hello Melissa !!!!!!!!
Be patient and kind to yourself. Surrendering to a new process isn’t easy but it sure beats the alternative!!
I like that !!!!!!!
Welcome Melissa. You are not alone you are among friends here.
Be patient with yourself and like Kaycee said its one day at a time.
Welcome Mellissa
I kept a daily journal for many years so I could always go back and remember what it was like. Victory isn’t easy but it’s the most important job you will ever have. Pen and paper are powerful recovery tools.
Awesome Janice !!!!!!!
Hello,
Good for you off to a great start! Before every meeting I attend here in the buffalo area we read “How It Works”! That’s it that is what I had to do “thoroughly follow the path”! Keep it simple!
Awesome Patrick !!!!!!!
Proud of you Shane!! And Karen my friends in recovery loved me until I started loving my self…and remember that we get it… I like knowing that there are other people that get me and are just like me!!
I agree with that a 100 percent !!!!!!
Welcome Melissa !!!! So glad you’re here!!
Hi Melissa. I know exactly where you are coming from. I am in the same position. Just remember, you are not alone. Just keep talking and sharing, and things will gradually change. I expected it all at once but have had to learn that that is not going to happen. Welcome x
True !!!!!!
Negative emotions can overtake you entire being, I keep praying
And going to meetings always helps!
