The negative and the positive

July 17, 2016 by Kayce L.

“A lot happens in one day, both negative and positive. If we do not take the time to appreciate both, perhaps we will miss something that will help us grow.”
I am grateful for all the negative I have went through because it has brought me to such amazing positive place in my life and recovery.

instead of seeing life as a struggle to survive, I realize that while awakening may be sudden and joyful, true growth is often arduous and requires patience and maybe making the same mistakes over and over.

My problem is that I’m such a negative person, I never see positives in me, even when they are pointed out. This stops me moving forward with my recovery.

Great Post Kayce, negative times, times of hardship have always brought about growth with time. My perspective always changes down the road.

I have been in a great season of growth. It started out negative but I have examined myself fully. I have drew closer to GOD. I know now I am an alcoholic. I know now I can live with out drink . I have been pushed to my extreme limits and was able to remain sober and learn more of what it takes to not drink today. NOW THAT Is POSITIVE !!!!

Hi everyone. I’m new to this site but very impressed by it thus far. Anyway, my name is Melissa and I’m an alcoholic. I have 9 days sober today and praying for many more. This topic reminds me that my negative way of thinking needs to be reframed. I need to turn my thoughts completely around but it’s so hard to do! I’m willing just not sure how to make this happen. I attend meetings everyday, (sometimes two), I pray all the time, and I contact my sober friends at least twice a day. Not to mention I signed myself into an outpatient program. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and God bless.

Proud of you Shane!! And Karen my friends in recovery loved me until I started loving my self…and remember that we get it… I like knowing that there are other people that get me and are just like me!!

Hi Melissa. I know exactly where you are coming from. I am in the same position. Just remember, you are not alone. Just keep talking and sharing, and things will gradually change. I expected it all at once but have had to learn that that is not going to happen. Welcome x

Negative emotions can overtake you entire being, I keep praying
And going to meetings always helps!
