April 11, 2017 by Kayce L.

It is not always easy to maintain a new way of life.Step 11; Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

This step is no quick fix. It is Steps 2 and 3 practiced on a daily basis. This Step can be our guide for the rest of our lives and if properly understood and carefully followed, some of the changes in our lives will border on miraculous.

I’m staying strong, with all that goes crazy in my life!
I can’t control what other people do, just how I react to them! Currently, a moron( my husband) has posted my kid and uncle, and included me in the post, when I am 430 miles away!

I believe in Alcoholics Anonymous and am grateful to the fellowship. It’s through AA I have developed a relationship with my higher power and I know it is not Gods will for me to drink. Recently I have been struggling and couldn’t really shake it. I’m sober 5+years , sponsor women and try to remain humble. I have thoughts of drinking but have remained true to myself by having the power of choice. It’s true we are not responsible for our thoughts but we are responsible for our actions. My sponsor says it’s normal to have thoughts but I didn’t have them at all for a couple of years , scary but in reality the temptation is there and it is our responsibility to take all necessary actions to stay sober and grow in sobriety. It’s a journey , glad I’m not alone.

You’re right being sober is awesome but the thought never leaves us I didn’t have the desire to drink for years but on my 20th anniversary that’s all I wanted to do. Thank God for sponsors and a higher power. I’m over 24 years sober now and I know what they mean by 24 hours.
