  1. Sometimes Quickly, Sometimes Slowly

    January 17, 2015 by Kayce L.

Our first true freedom is the freedom not to not to have to take a drink today. If we truly want it, we will work the 12 steps and the happiness of this freedom will come to us through the steps. Sometimes quickly-sometimes slowly. Other freedoms will follow and inventorying them is a new happiness. We have a new freedom to be the best we can be.

  2. The Journey

    January 5, 2015 by Kayce L.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We are slowly learning how to trust our dreams and reach for them. One day at a time.

  3. The Steps

    December 28, 2014 by Kayce L.

Like a loud alarm clock, the First Step brings us to semi-consciousness—although at this point, we may not be sure whether we want to climb out of bed or maybe sleep for just five more minutes. The gentle hand shaking our shoulders as we apply the Second and Third Steps causes us to stand up, stretch, and yawn. We need to wipe the sleep from our eyes to write the Fourth Step and share our Fifth. But as we work the Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Steps, we begin noticing a spring in our step and the start of a smile on our lips. Our spirits sing in the shower as we take the Tenth and Eleventh Steps. And then we practice the Twelfth, leaving the house in search of others to awaken.

  4. New Attitude

  6. Recovery Prayer

    October 25, 2014 by Kayce L.

Thank you for keeping me straight yesterday. Please help me stay straight today.

For the next twenty-four hours, I pray for knowledge of your will for me only, and the power to carry that through. Please free my thinking of self-will, self-seeking, dishonesty, and wrong motives. Send me the right thought, word, and action. Show me what my next step should be.

In times of doubt and indecision, please send me your inspiration and guidance. I ask that you might help me work through all my problems, to your glory and honor.

This prayer is a recovery prayer. It can take us through any situation. In the days ahead, we’ll explore the ideas in it. If we pray with prayer, we can trust it has been answered with a yes. Today trust that God will do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Do your part, work your 12 steps and let God do the rest.

This prayer is based on a section of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.

  7. Step 11

    September 11, 2014 by Kayce L.

Praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
Always set aside some quiet time to “talk” with your Higher Power. Pray and ask for that Power’s direction and the ability to act on it.
