God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
(Although known most widely in its abbreviated form above, the entire prayer reads as follows…)
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next.
Amen.

Showing Tolerance towards Others
April 18, 2017 by Kayce L.
Arrogance can be defined as an offensive display of superiority on self-importance. Most of those individuals who have this negative attribute to them will deny it. A person who is arrogant is less likely to admit they need help, instead, they are focused on looking down on everyone else around them.
Showing tolerance towards someone’s arrogance nurtures and develops spiritual growth within our own recovery.

Making the Decision
April 12, 2017 by Kayce L.
Step 3Made a decision to turn our will and our lives our to the care of God as we understood Him.
If we decide, or make up our own mind, to turn our will and our life over to the care of God as we understand God, that decision ALONE will not turn it over. We will have to take the actions necessary to turn it over. The first three Steps are designed to bring us to the point where we become WILLING to turn our will and our lives over to the care of a Higher Power. Then and only then are we spiritually ready to move on to Step 4.

Maintaining Soberity
April 11, 2017 by Kayce L.
It is not always easy to maintain a new way of life.Step 11; Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
This step is no quick fix. It is Steps 2 and 3 practiced on a daily basis. This Step can be our guide for the rest of our lives and if properly understood and carefully followed, some of the changes in our lives will border on miraculous.

Higher Power in Recovery
April 10, 2017 by Kayce L.
Having a Higher Power is key. When I first began this journey in recovery, I had a hard time identifying with my spirituality. I started with my fellowship being my Higher Power. And after a while and I learned to love myself, my spirituality opened up and I came to believe in a Higher Power, I call God.

April 9, 2017 by Kayce L.
Self-acceptance comes when we first that we have a disease because it’s easier to accept ourselves as sick people rather than as bad people. And the easier it is to accept ourselves, the easier it becomes to accept responsibility for ourselves. Without surrender to our powerlessness, we are catapulted back into our disease .Working the Twelve Steps teaches us to learn self-acceptance.

Amends in Sobriety
March 9, 2017 by Kayce L.
We must be willing to make amends where we have done harm, provided that we do not bring about still more harm in doing so.Pg 69
When I was ready to make amends I had to learn this the hard way. So I made the amends to myself and my Higher Power. It helped me overcome the guilt and shame of my wrong doings.Category General | Tags: | 13 Comments
